Craggy Range
Craggy Range was born in 1997 when Terry Peabody and Steve Smith MW set about buying the best vineyards in New Zealand, planting them with the best vines suited to that terroir and to produce single vineyard wines that would compete with the best in the world. It is this simple philosophy that drives the entire system of farming and winemaking at Craggy Range.
There are three winemakers at Craggy range, each sharing responsibility over wines for which they have a passion. Steve Smith finely tunes Sauvignon Blanc and the Bordeaux blend “Sophia” and two senior winemakers each have their own speciality: Syrah and Chardonnay for Rod Easthorpe, Pinot Noir, Riesling and Pinot Gris for Adrian Baker.
Above all, Craggy Range is a family run business. Terry's son TJ and daughter Mary-Jeanne sell wines worldwide, Terry’s wife Mary oversees their fine Terroir restaurant and youngest son David is a director.
