The 2009 growing season and harvest brought good conditions and healthy grapes. The grapes for the Reserve Chardonnay are selected from prime blocks on the Groote Post farm. The wine is vinified by winemaker Lukas Wentzel and aged in first and second fill French oak barrels for 6 months. The resulting wine combines Darling Hills elegance with refined flavours and a underlying freshness.
Tasting note
An elegant and well balanced Chardonnay with very well integrated wood. Appealing golden straw colour with a nose of toasted farm bread with lashings of butter and zesty lime marmalade. Well balanced, upfront flavours abound and a mid palate of appealing citrus yields to a full, rounded finish.
