The Rocky Road vineyard lies in the headwaters of the Chapman Brook, near witchliffe in the South of the Margaret River region. With a northerly aspect, the vines enjoy long days of sunshine, moderated by the vineyard's southern location. The vines are grown on a single bilateral corfon with a vertically trained canopy. It is a simple and practical format that maximises light penetration and maintains a balanced vine.

Tasting note

'This wine shows edges of fruit tingle, brioche, restrained custard powder, and ginger with some mealy notes. The linear palate is supported by a lemon and lime backbone. White nectarine gives fresh punchy flesh and weight while whie peach fruits fill the veins. Nuances of barley sugar, fig, nectarine make for a seductive glass full. Lively and racy.' Ryan Walsh, winemaker

Awards and Accolades

James Halliday's Australian Wine Companion

Pale straw-green; similar restraint in the winery, both McHenry Hohnen Chardonnays are wild-yeast-fermented, but here the flavours are in the grapefruit spectrum, heightened by the linear acidity the fruit offers; this wine, too, is driven by fruit, not oak. 94 Points
