Estate Shiraz
Region
Clare Valley
Grape variety
Shiraz,Syrah

Our family believe great wines are made in the vineyard. The Estate wines are crafted with care and seek to capture the essence of the vineyard site and the pure varietal expression of the vineyard site and the pure varietal expression of the grape.

Tasting note

The wine is vibrant and lifted with aromas of plum, blackcurrant and dark cherry along with black olives and a touch of oak derived spice and subtle chocolate. The palate is rich, luscious and round with intense, perfectly ripened fruit characters. Roasted coffee bean and subtle spice characters complement the generous fruit flavours. The wine is medium to full-bodied with a soft midpalate and supple tannins. It has a well balanced structure with great texture, good length and lashings of fruit on the finish.

What follows is evidence to support my theory about Postmodern Australia. I have picked 10 Shirazes...that I think sum up the direction Australian wine is heading. They all exhibit the buzzwords of elegance and restraint, but still have Australian flavour - a certain ripeness of fruit, and a rounded, polished, drinkable style. 'Meaty and peppery – genuine Rhôney notes, even possibly a bit bretty – but in a good way. Super ripe red fruit puts this back in Australia, but it does draw on Syrah’s savoury character.
