La Capilla Vineyard is located close to the town of Peralillo in the Colchagua Valley. Viu Manent aquired the land for this vineyard in 1992 and after careful preparation went on to plant four varieties; Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Carménère and Malbec.
This wine is made from the 3 best Cabernet Sauvignon blocks. The 2009 season saw a concentration of rainfall in the winter and a warm dry summer which lead to high quality grapes with good concentration. After picking the grapes were destemmed, fermented in stainless steel and then transfered to 1st and 2nd fill oak barrels where malolactic fermentation took place and the wines aged gracefully for 18 months.
The resulting wine is intense, ripe and elegant and is marked by aromas of blackcurrant and black cherries intermingled with subtle leather undertones that are distinctive characteristics of La Capilla vineyard. The palate is smooth and well structured with fine balanced tannins and acidity that lead a lingering and enjoyable finish.
