The results are out for the International Wine Challenge 2019!
Banfi SummuS 2015 won Gold with 95pts and also won Trophy for both Tuscan Red and Toscana Red Blend - congratulations to the team at Banfi!
From the vineyards around the castle in Montalcino, this wine was the first 'Super-Tuscan' from Montalcino with the first vintage produced in 1985. This wine combines Sangiovese with Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. All are vinified separately before being blended together for ageing in wood. An intense and deep Supertuscan that represents very well the potential of the three vines that compose it.
Rich and ample, this wine combines the body of Sangiovese with the fruit and structure from Cabernet Sauvignon and the fruit and elegance of Syrah. This creates a full, powerful wine.
The International Wine Challenge is one of the most meticulously judged wine competition which assesses every wine blind and judges each for its faithfulness to style, region and vintage. Each medal-winning wine is tasted on three separate occasions by at least 12 different judges and awards include medals (Trophy, Gold, Silver, Bronze) and Commended and Great Value awards.
